Dear Reimaginers,
This edition of your bimonthly Reimagine Education newsletter focuses on the work of three accelerators and incubators that we’ve had the privilege of working with over the last couple of years. We believe very strongly that there is great potential for highly effective edtech solutions to be created when edtech startups and institutions of higher education come together, and are excited by the number of institutions that are seeking to found, or partner with, incubators who can help transform idea into successful, scalable reality. We’re particularly enthused about the EDUCATE project, based at the UCL Knowledge Labs in London, and hope to see more institutions follow suit.
One of the most successful examples of institutional incubation is the subject of our first article. Towson University’s TU Incubator has, over a decade, transformed itself from a five-startup-strong general incubator to the mid-Atlantic region’s largest edtech-focused incubator, with its startups fostering employment, economic growth, and educational excellence in the region.
We’re very proud that one of the world’s largest, most innovative companies has chosen to support Reimagine Education once again, and an update from Amazon Web Services’ AWS EdStart program forms the basis of our second contribution. This edition, they outline their plans to take their EdStart initiative – designed to help edtech solutions construct effective, successful solutions on the AWS Cloud – global.
Finally, the WISE Accelerator has also supported Reimagine Education since 2016, and are, like both of our other contributing incubator/accelerator programs, aiming to support the development of innovative education technology solutions. Though their 2018 call for applications has now closed, they are encouraging engagement with edtech companies whose work has high potential for scalability and impact. Find out more about their work, and their 2019 summit, here.
Our various calls are still ongoing, and there are still three months to apply for the 2018 Reimagine Education Awards, one month to submit your application to join our judging panel, and four months left to suggest a speaking/panel proposal for this year’s conference. We hope to hear from as many of our readership as possible.
Never stop innovating!
