Simon Nelson is passionate about digital disruption. At the BBC, he pioneered taking media brands and content online including the BBC’s podcasting service and the innovative Radio Player before moving to its television divisions where he led the development of the BBC iPlayer. As CEO of FutureLearn, this passion and experience is now focused on working with universities to enable them to transform digitally.
Simon and his teams have won multiple awards for digital innovation and product development, including several Emmys, Webby and Bafta awards, the Prix Italia, Prix Europa and Rose D’or.
Simon is frequently asked to share his thoughts on the future of learning and the opportunities that digital presents at major global conferences.
Fact: Simon was instrumental in launching BBC’s Radio Player, podcasting, and iPlayer. Most recently as CEO of FutureLearn, he has led the company to a £50m investment valuing the company at £100m in just 6 years.
